AUTHOR'S NOTES: SPOILER ALERT!!!! (You might want to read the filk first then come back to this)
Now that the FOX Era of SLIDERS has finally officially come to a close I felt the need to mark this by finally submitting this,my first fanfic piece.
The inspiration for what I called "IF EVER YOU WERE LONELY" came in a creative flow first after watching STOKER and was finished after watching PARADISE.
And while I will have to totally agree with the statement "A great author shouldn't have to explain their work"- well, I feel I need to:
It was only later that I found out, that the song which Wade began, but was rudely interrupted during, was a real song with lyrics that I would dearly love to know.
Firstly, while she was singing,I was struck for no apparently obvious reason by the feeling that, contrary to recent developments, Wade was actually referring to Quinn, and in a tender fashion! Or maybe it was my Q+W Romantic (and Q-Ball Fan) nature making one last grasp? I just extrapolated the song from there.
Secondly, I moved the POV timeframe up to take place after The End of PARADISE and her unseen reaction to the last event. This was assuming that their desired destination was that which was attained, albeit without the timer.
So take it for what it is within the speculative context of the time and the mindset in which it was written....
And enjoy!!!!

Thank you!!!
Oh,yeah--- before someone points it out: I know one of my lines is not accurate; but I felt what I wrote was far more poetic-sounding and a bit more scientifically plausible than that which was presented in the episode.
Dedication:
To Julia Reynolds for beta-reading my first fanfic....
If ever you were lonely
You never let on...
You never let on...
If it was up to you
And you only:
You'd never be wrong
You'd never be wrong
You'd never be wrong
Cuz you were falling behind
In trying to find that place
Where you belonged...
Trying to stay strong
Trying to stay strong
Trying to stay strong
Through cloudy lilac days
And three-mooned nights
You led me on...
You led me on...
If ever you were lonely
You never let on...
You never let on...
If it was up to you
And you only:
You'd never know fear
You'd never know fear
You'd never know fear
Cuz you were falling behind
In trying to know the answers
To it all...
Trying not to fall
Trying not to fall
Trying not to fall
Carrying the weight of worlds
Upon your shoulders
You led me on...
You led me on...
If ever you were lonely
You never let on...
You never let on...
If it was up to me
And me only:
You'd never be lonely
You'd never be lonely
You'd never be lonely
Cuz I'd be by your side
Now and for always:
Knowing I've found that place
Where I belonged...
(Where you belong)...
Trying not to cry
Trying not to cry
Trying not to cry...
